Visual Arts

In the art program at Berean, students are encouraged to nurture the relationship between the visual arts and their Christian faith. These students learn to develop their creative potential, see the value of their own ideas, and communicate visually. The art room is a place where " out-of-the-box” thinking is encouraged and celebrated!

Art is a weekly part of the curriculum for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Students in junior high and high school are offered the opportunity to take art as an elective. Students of all ages are instructed in art history, art appreciation, and hands-on projects, including drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, mixed media, and 3D sculpture.

THEATRE

NEWSIES, 2023

At Berean Christian School, we believe in educating and empowering our students. One way we do that is by having a Theatre Department that believes in each child's God-given gifts. Each one of us has been equipped to play a part in God's story, and in Theatre, we glorify God onstage, backstage, and at district and state competitions! Our thespians understand the importance of reaching out to others and claiming this world, not only our campus, as our mission field.

Besides offering Theatre classes for Junior High and High School students, we start our school year with our Theatre Troupe—our very own chapter of the International Thespian Society. It is a huge success with students ranging from 6th to 12th grade. Last year, our thespians competed at the district level and brought home 2 superior ratings, 7 excellent ratings, and 9 good ratings, qualifying them to compete at the state level in Melbourne, FL, in February.

The Theatre Club has a reputation for putting on quality shows, such as Broadway’s You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown the Musical, Mary Poppins the Musical, and Annie Jr. the Musical, along with many one-act performances, including Rapunzel Uncut and Much Ado High School. In our Theatre department, we not only encourage our students from the wings of the stage or from the tech booth in the house, but we also run the race with them, especially in the valleys of their lives. We don't believe in our weaknesses because we have our eyes set on His strength.

Music

Elementary School students are immersed in a music curriculum that focuses on the group's strengths. Students perform and sing a broad repertoire of music. All elementary students are showcased throughout the year.

Junior High School and High School students are involved in a newly expanding program with an emphasis on a choir and vocal ensemble curriculum. Students study and perform contemporary and traditional praise & worship songs, Gospel songs, and songs of edification.

Praise Band

Praise… Worship… Adoration

Musically, Praise Band students are taught through one of the most current and real-world Praise Band curriculums available. Students study the individual nature of their instruments (guitar, electric bass, drum kit, and voice) and the interactive responsibility of their instruments and voices in a whole group setting. In addition to instrumental and vocal techniques, Praise Band students have regular music theory lessons to make the most of their musical gifts. The students also learn the intricacies of the technical side of stage presentation (lighting, sound reinforcement, and video usage) through regular weekly & bi-weekly worship leading in our Jr. High and High school chapels as well as in our community.
